At last, summer has returned to San Diego and if you’re searching for some fun things to do you might consider heading to Little Italy.
Taste of Little Italy | June 18-19
Taste of Little Italy will host back-to-back nights of gastronomic delights showcasing the diverse culinary landscape of the neighborhood from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tour 48 blocks of the neighborhood and stop at eateries such as Buon Appetito, Waterfront Bar & Grill, Cloak & Petal, Ballast Point, and more. Attendees will receive a “Taste Passport,” allowing them to wander and sample culinary delights while enjoying live music at the Piazza della Famiglia and Piazza Basilone. Tickets are on sale here at $55 per day.
Marine Band San Diego Summer Concert | July 13
See the Marine Band San Diego Summer Concert at 7 p.m. The local ensemble Sound Strike and the full 40-member Marine Band San Diego will take the main stage in the Piazza Della Famiglia. Hosted by the Little Italy Association, the community is invited to listen to anthems and tunes in a fun outdoor setting.
Little Italy Mercato | Every Wednesday and Sunday
Shop for fresh, locally sourced produce and other artisan goodies at the Little Italy Mercato. every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A diverse array of farmers, artisans and vendors come together to showcase local fruit, vegetables and other produce sourced from farms across the region as well as handmade items from local artists.
Outdoor Dining
Little Italy offers an abundance of outdoor dining options – restaurants such as Underbelly, Barbusa, Ironside Fish & Oyster Bar, Allegro and Bolt Brewery among them. Above Ash Social, Coco Maya, the Glass Door and Pali Wine Co are also ideal summer hangouts, with patios overlooking Little Italy.

As an ode to the relaxed character of small Italian towns, Little Italy boasts a collection of charming piazzas, including Piazza della Famiglia, Piazza Basilone, Piazza Pescatore, Piazza Giannini, Piazza Villaggio and the latest, Piazza Costanza.
