A 36-year-old Spring Valley man was in custody today accused of stabbing his sister’s husband in the abdomen and chest during a dispute in the victim’s Chula Vista home, police said.
Brandon Pabilona Ancho was arrested Monday night and booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and burglary in the first degree, according to Chula Vista police Capt. Lon Turner.
Ancho entered his sister and her husband’s residence in the 300 block of East James Street uninvited last Saturday and began questioning the couple about a business matter related to Ancho’s former employment, Turner said in a statement.
The argument escalated into a physical confrontation when Ancho allegedly pulled out a large kitchen knife from his pants pocket and attempted to stab his sister in her back. Turner said the woman’s husband intervened and prevented the stabbing, and was then chased throughout the house by Ancho.
“Ancho eventually caught and stabbed (his brother-in-law) two times, in the abdomen and chest,” Turner said. “Both victims fled their residence through a back door and scaled a fence into a neighboring yard to escape.”
Around 2:40 p.m. Monday, members of the Chula Vista Police Department’s Crime of Violence Unit, along with the San Diego Fugitive Task Force, arrested Ancho without further incident at his parents’ home in the 2400 block of Doubletree Road in Spring Valley.
Ancho’s brother-in-law was treated at a local trauma center, Turner said, noting he was expected to survive. Ancho’s sister was not injured.
