A 47-year-old man died after being ejected from a pickup when the driver ran off the road, down an embankment and into a citrus orchard in San Pasqual Valley, the San Diego Police Department said Wednesday.
The crash occurred at 11:19 p.m. Tuesday in the 18100 block of San Pasqual Valley Road, according to Officer David O’Brien.
The 25-year-old driver of a gray 1999 Chevrolet Silverado was heading east when the vehicle crossed over the double yellow painted lines and went down a 50-foot embankment into a citrus orchard, O’Brien said.
The driver was flown by helicopter to a hospital, but his passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
SDPD Traffic Division officers responded to the scene and were handling the investigation.
