A woman died after crashing a vehicle into a tree in Valley Center on Sunday evening.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Rock Hill Ranch and Valley Center roads around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman was temporarily trapped in her vehicle, the CHP reported. Her name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

It was unclear if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

No other injuries were reported and the crash remainder under investigation.

A pedestrian was struck and killed early Saturday morning on a freeway ramp near Golden Hill, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The victim was hit around 5 a.m. on the ramp from westbound Route 94 to northbound Interstate 5.

Several cars may have hit the person according to reports from the scene, and drivers stopped to speak with officers.

Traffic was halted for 30 minutes until the lanes were cleared. The fatal collision remains under investigation.

A motorcycle rider was killed early Sunday evening in a crash in Fallbrook.

The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 7:50 p.m. Sunday and occurred in the 4300 block of Orange Hill, just north of state Route 76.

The victim’s identity was not immediately made public.

The CHP confirmed the death but did not provide more information. The law enforcement agency was investigating.

Authorities Wednesday publicly identified a man who was fatally injured last week when a car driven by a DUI suspect hit him at a Colina Del Sol-area intersection.

The eastbound vehicle struck Jairo Lazaro-Galicia, 45, as he was trying to cross El Cajon Boulevard at 50th Street shortly after at 9 p.m. Thursday, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Paramedics took to Lazaro-Galicia, whose community of residence remains unknown, to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, the agency reported.

The 20-year-old motorist involved in the traffic fatality was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, police said. His name has not been released.

One person was killed Sunday when his vehicle veered off southbound Route 163 in Linda Vista and rolled over in early morning rain.

The crash was reported at 4:19 a.m. north of Friars Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

First responders found the heavily-damaged vehicle on its roof, and the male victim’s body approximately 50 feet away.

Officials said the victim was likely ejected in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 44-year-old pedestrian was killed by a suspected DUI driver in a collision Thursday night in the Colina Del Sol neighborhood, authorities reported Friday.

San Diego Police Lt. Clinton Leisz said officers were called to the intersection of 50th Street and El Cajon Boulevard  at 9:10 p.m. where they learned the victim was running across El Cajon Boulevard prior to the collision.

Leisz said the driver, a 20-year-old man, was heading east on El Cajon when the pedestrian stopped, turned around and was struck.

The pedestrian suffered major head trauma in the collision and was was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:37 p.m., Leisz said.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The department’s Traffic Division is investigating the collision and anyone with information related to it was asked to call 858-495-7800 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

A member of the U.S. Marine Corps died at Camp Pendleton this week while taking part in “routine military operations,” the service reported Wednesday.

The service member — who belonged to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing — died about 5 p.m. Tuesday, according the Marine Corps.

Details on the circumstances of the fatality remained unavailable Wednesday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased Marine was withheld pending family notification.

A pedestrian in his 40s was killed when he was struck by a vehicle in Oceanside on Monday night, authorities reported Tuesday.

The Oceanside Police Department said the collision occurred at about 9 p.m. when a gold Nissan Murano heading east on Mission Avenue collided with the pedestrian who was crossing the road about 100 yards west of Ocean Puente.

Sgt. Clint Bussey said the pedestrian died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and was cooperative with law enforcement, the sergeant said. A second driver also ran over the pedestrian and remained at the scene.

The victim’s identity was being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

A motorcycle rider died Saturday evening when his bike collided with another vehicle in the Ridgeview-Webster neighborhood.

The crash occurred at 7:25 p.m. on Euclid Avenue at Lyon Street, San Diego Police Officer John Buttle told City News Service.

The details of the crash were not immediately available, Buttle said.

The motorcycle rider was male, but his age and name were not released, the officer said.

Euclid Avenue was shut down between Federal Boulevard and the Route 94 freeway, including off-ramps, Buttle said.

A person apparently jaywalking in Mira Mesa was struck and killed by an SUV driven by a 70-year-old man, the San Diego Police Department reported Tuesday.

The collision occurred at 7:39 p.m. Monday on Mira Mesa Boulevard at Westview Parkway, according to Officer John Buttle.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was crossing Mira Mesa Boulevard from north to south in violation of posted signs, Buttle said.

He said the man was hit by a black 2001 Ford Expedition and died at a hospital from multiple fractures, collapsed lungs and blunt force trauma.

The driver was uninjured and alcohol was not a factor in the collision, Buttle said.

SDPD’s Traffic Division officers responded to the scene and were investigating the collision.
