Traffic stopped

A man running along the right shoulder of  southbound Interstate 5 in downtown San Diego was struck and killed Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The collision occurred at 5 a.m. just north of Imperial Avenue, according to the CHP incident log.

The male driver of a compact sedan that struck the victim stopped and cooperated with the CHP. He was shaken by the collision but uninjured.

A Sigalert was issued as traffic was brought to a stop. One lane was reopened at 5:20 a.m.
