A predawn apartment fire in Pacific Beach displaced three people Friday and caused an estimated $25,000 worth of damage.

The non-injury blaze in the 2200 block of Garnet Avenue erupted about 1:15 a.m. Friday, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Crews had the flames under control within about 15 minutes, the city agency reported.

A resident of the apartment told firefighters the blaze started on a couch, according to SDFRD public affairs.

Investigators set the monetary losses at $15,000 to the structure and $10,000 to contents.

The American Red Cross was called in to help the displaced people, all adults, arrange for shelter.
