A male pedestrian was struck and killed by a Coaster train on the bluffs in Del Mar, authorities reported Monday.
The crash occurred at about 9:50 p.m. Sunday just north of Torrey Pines State Beach, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff’s officials said.
The sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit is investigating the crash and urged any witnesses to call the non-emergency line at (858) 565-5200.
The name and age of the victim will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office pending notification of his family.
