An investigation was under way Tuesday into an altercation in Ocean Beach that sent three people to the hospital with stab wounds and blunt trauma injuries.
The altercation at 5150 Voltaire St. was reported at 2:54 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police Officer Dan Lasher.
A man in his 20s got into an argument with a man and a woman, also in their 20s, Lasher said in a statement.
During the argument, the first man was stabbed by the second man, Lasher said, adding that after the stabbing, the first man fled only to return a few minutes later with three other men armed with skateboards.
The second man and his female companion were then attacked by the larger group, he said.
Paramedics took the injured to the hospital. Detectives will determine if any arrests will be made once the injured are released from the hospital, he said.
