A parolee was back behind bars Thursday on suspicion of shooting his nephew last week during an argument on a Colina del Sol-area roadside.

Patrol officers responding to a tip about the case found Dennis Ransom, 55, sitting in a parked car with a woman in the 4000 block of 43rd Street in City Heights about 10:15 Thursday morning. They took him into custody without incident, according to San Diego police.

Ransom allegedly opened fire on his nephew, 29, in the 5300 block of Trojan Avenue about 9:45 p.m. Friday. He then fled, Officer Darius Jamsetjee said.

Police arrived to find the victim suffering from a bullet wound to the groin. He was hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to survive, Jamsetjee said.

The nature of the dispute that led to the shooting was unclear.

Ransom was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of assault with a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and parole violation.
