A woman who allegedly was intoxicated when the car she was driving got into a late-night collision at a Chula Vista intersection, severely injuring a 3-year-old girl riding in her car, was behind bars Wednesday on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment.
The two-vehicle wreck occurred at Brandywine Avenue and East Palomar Street at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.
Patrol officers arrived to find the toddler unconscious and unresponsive, CVPD Officer James Bucaro said. Paramedics took her to a trauma center, where she was admitted in critical condition.
The driver of the car the child had been riding in, 26-year-old Ayneisha Christiana Frazier, was arrested and booked into Las Colinas women’s jail in Santee. She was being held on $500,000 bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Three women who had been in the other vehicle, ages 42, 60 and 69, were transported to a hospital for evaluation after complaints of pain, Bucaro said.
Police did not disclose the relationship between Frazier and the child.
