An attraction based on the successful premiere of “LEGO: The Movie” is scheduled to open Thursday at Legoland California.

Park officials say The LEGO Movie Experience is set up as a movie soundstage, and features clips from the film and LEGO models that provided inspiration for the story. It took more than three million bricks to create the models at the exhibit, according to Legoland.

Actor Jadon Sand, who played “Finn” in the movie, is scheduled to appear at an opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at the park, at One Legoland Drive.

According to trade publications Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, “LEGO: The Movie” surpassed $200 million in global box office receipts Wednesday, including $146.3 million in the U.S.

The website Box Office Mojo said the first weekend take of more than $69 million ranks second all-time for a film released in February, behind only “The Passion of the Christ,” at $83.8 million. The film also ranks having one of the top release weekends ever for an original animated film — one that’s not a sequel or prequel.
