The National Weather Service forecast for Mother’s Day in San Diego calls for higher temperatures under a think marine layer.

“Marine layer clouds are forecast each night and morning for the coast and valleys through next week,” the agency said. “A few degrees of warming is expected today, with minor cooling Monday and Tuesday.”

Highs Sunday will be 67 to 71 near the coast, 72 to 75 inland, 74 to 78 in the western valleys, 77 to 82 near the foothills, 75 to 85 in the mountains and 98 to 102 in the deserts.

Sunday’s San Diego surf forecast includes a moderate-risk rip current, with surf height from 2 to 4 feet and a mixed southwest swell from 220 degrees and west swell from 260 degrees.

It will be warmer later in the week, with the possibility of showers over the mountains on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
