The San Diego Police Department will hold community meetings to share information about 10 surveillance and other technologies at 6 p.m. March 7.

SDPD uses various technologies to assist in providing public safety services. They include:

  • Covert Audio Recording Device
  • Covert Audio Recording Device (Record Only)
  • Covert Audiovisual Record Device
  • Motion-Activated Trail Cameras
  • Pan Tilt Zoom Video Camera Mobile Unit
  • Pan Tilt Zoom Video Camera Mobile Unit with Cloud-Based Storage
  • Pan Tilt Zoom Video Cameras
  • Power Over Ethernet Digital Video Recorders
  • Power Over Ethernet Network Video Recorders
  • Power Over Ethernet Video Cameras

One location, Anchor Church, 1765 Pentecost Way, in Oak Park will serve as the hub for the main presentation on the technologies, with eight other locations open to in-person attendance and public comment, but offering a simulcast of the presentation.

The simulcast sites are the Central Library, Clark Middle School, Hourglass Park, La Jolla Recreation Center, Mission Trails Park, Otay Mesa-Nestor Library, Scripps Ranch Civic Association Community Center and the SDPD Western Storefront.

SDPD also will post a recording of the presentation online. Online public comment for the technologies will be accepted until 5 p.m. on March 11. Public comment forms can be found under the corresponding technology name on the department’s website.

Community members are encouraged to review the Use Policies and supporting materials prior to attending the meeting.

Any updates or changes to locations will be posted on the SDPD website. The department is hosting the meeting to comply with the city’s Surveillance Ordinance.
