The fires, part of routine training regimens at the U.S. Marine Corps station in northern San Diego, will begin at 9 a.m. and continue for roughly three hours, the base public-affairs office advised.

People in surrounding communities may see flames and smoke, but no roadway visibility restrictions or air-quality problems are expected, according to military officials.
