Six former San Diego State track and field standouts made the Mountain West 25th season outdoor team, the conference office announced.

Whitney Ashley, Bonnie Draxler, Tonette Dyer, Ashley Henderson, Allison Reaser and Shanieka Ricketts, nee Thomas, were named to the team, with Draxler, Henderson, Reaser and Ricketts also making the MW Indoor 25th Season Team.

The conference is celebrating its 25th season by recognizing the top athletes in its history during each MW championship event in 2023-24.

One of three SDSU Hall of Famers on the 25-year team, Ashley competed for San Diego State from 2011-12. In her two seasons, she was a three-time outdoor All-American and claimed the 2012 NCAA discus title. She won four outdoor MW event championships as well as the 2011 High Point Award. She still owns the school record for both the discus and hammer while ranking second all-time in shot put.

Arguably the best pole vaulter in Mountain West history, Draxler was at SDSU from 2015-19. In that time, she qualified for two NCAA Outdoor Championships including a finish as the 2019 national runner-up. Her clearance of 4.51m (14-9.5) at the 2019 NCAA Championships ranks first in conference history by six inches as well as 22nd all-time in NCAA history.

Dyer, the second Aztec Hall of Famer on the list, competed for SDSU from 2002-05. A three-time outdoor All-American, she qualified for the NCAA Championships four times and the NCAA West Regionals eight times. She still holds the conference and school records in the 200m and 400m dashes. She also ranks second in SDSU history in the 100m.

Henderson, an Aztec from 2015-18, became one of the most decorated sprinters in San Diego State history. Her eight outdoor all-America selections and nine outdoor MW championships are the most by an Aztec. In her four years, she qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100m and 200m for three straight years from 2016-18 and is the school record holder in the 100m, while ranking second in the 200m.

Reaser, at SDSU from 2011-14, was a three-time All-American who qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the heptathlon all four years. She won four MW outdoor titles, including three straight heptathlon titles from 2011-13 as part of the eight outdoor all-conference performances in her career. Reaser still owns the conference and school record of 5,836 points in the heptathlon.

Ricketts, an Olympian and the third SDSU Hall of Famer on the 25th season team, won back-to-back NCAA triple jump championships in 2013 and 2014 and was the national runner-up in 2012. A four-time Mountain West champion, her triple jump mark of 14.15m (46-5.25) is the best in MW history by over nine inches and over a foot and a half better than the second-best mark in school history.

The six selections top all MW schools; New Mexico came in second with four picks.
